Mustang Shelby GT500 Paint Correction

This particular client found me through a friend of a friend. He is a huge mustang enthusiast and has had them all. This one is my personal favorite. The car was well maintained and he preferred to hand wash the car himself in his spare time which definitely helped keep it in decent shape. There were still swirling and scratches all over the paint which can be attributed to poor wash techniques but overall the vehicle was well maintained. We decided to go with a heavy single stage polish and a strong protective wax to keep the car looking great all summer long.

After following the initial washing, decreasing, decontaminating, and claying processes, I went right into polishing. The factory paint is softer than most whites, but it was still white, and it was very hard compared to other colors. The polishing process took about 6-7 hours total. Here are some 50/50’s and after-detail shots.

The trim had faded over the 6 years that this car was on the road. It seemed to be a very common issue and so we decided to go with a long lasting and durable coating to protect the trim along with providing a clean matte finish. The same went for the tires to keep the clean, new, and fresh theme going on this classic Mustang.

Sadly I couldn’t take as many before and after detail photos as I wanted to. I really loved this car but I was too preoccupied detailing to stop and take pictures. Overall me and the client were very happy with the final results. This Mustang came out of the driveway looking better than it had off the showroom floor.
